By February 1, 2018June 10th, 2019No Comments

With February half term just around the corner we thought we would give you some days out around Cornwall which we love and are “February friendly activities”! In the last five years we have seen a dramatic increase in tourists visiting Cornwall in the winter months. The truth is that sometimes you can have better weather in February than May (it’s no guarantee!). So if your visiting Cornwall over the next few months take a look at our recommended family activities in Cornwall.

Coasteering/Surfing

As little as ten years ago Coasteering and Surfing in the winter months was  only really for the hard core enthusiasts who get in whatever the weather. But now with such vast improvements in the wetsuit industry you can easily spend 3 hours in the sea coasteering and still be warm !

At the time of writing this the current air temperature is seven degrees celsius and the sea is twelve degrees celsius so your actually warmer in the sea surfing or coasteering !!

The difference wearing boots and hoods make is unbelievable with all our wetsuits made by C Skins one of the leading industry brands we can guarantee warmth and comfort.

If you fancy surfing with us this February then check out  https://www.kingsurf.co.uk/

If coasteering is what your after https://www.kingcoasteer.co.uk/

Or alternatively if you want a whole day out why not try the ‘King Package” Included in the package is a 2.5 hour surf lesson at King Surf followed by a 2 hour coasteer at the chosen location for the day. https://www.kingcoasteer.co.uk/coasteer-booking/

Blue Reef Aquarium

If the winter sea is not your cup of tea then why head indoors to Blue Reef aquarium located right in the heart of Newquay where you can walk through the shark tunnel or watch feeding time for the Sting Rays.

National Lobster Hatchery Padstow

Located on Padstow harbour this local marine conservation charity does vital work to conserve lobster stocks. Expect to see teeny tiny baby lobsters as they are given a helping hand to grow before being released into the sea and make friends with the resident giant lobsters. This is a brilliant hands on educational experience for all the family!

Newquay Zoo

This is the only place in Cornwall to have lions ! Alongside the lions expect to see  beautiful songbirds, snakes, meerkats, toucans and monkeys – to name a few.

Up close animal encounters will give you the chance to meet some of the most popular animals and learn all about them from their keeper’s.

St Eval Go-Karting

Just 2 minutes away from Mawgan Porth this is a lot of fun ! With karts reaching speeds of 70 mph this is the best track in Cornwall with a massive outdoor 1.3km track which is designed to cater for 7 years olds and above, and for all group sizes. Well worth a visit of your in cornwall this February with the family !
